Arranmore Center for the Arts Unveils Vision at OEDC Annual Meeting
OSWEGO- The Oswego Economic Development Corporation today unveiled the vision for the Arranmore Center for the Arts at the OEDC Annual Meeting. Shannon Greene Robb, Founder and President of Arranmore, was introduced to the more than 200
Civic and business leaders at the event.
The Arranmore Center for the Arts will bring together the creative, visual and performing arts, as well educational opportunities, on a 25-acre arts campus. The center will be located east of Stewart Road, between 111th and 119th Streets in Oswego.
“It is not just the scope of this project that sets it apart, or the opportunity to create a destination for tens of thousands of visitors, it is that this project will incorporate the beauty and history of the land into the design and use of the center” said Michael Cassa, Executive Director of the Oswego Economic Development Corporation.
The center will feature sustainable buildings, including indoor and outdoor theatres, an educational facility, an art gallery, and an outdoor sculpture garden. The educational facility will consist of community and conservatory education in dance, music, theatre, and the visual arts. The indoor theatre will have seating for at least 900, while the outdoor venue will accommodate 2,000 in the pavilion, and another 3,000 on the lawn.
“We hope to break ground in 4 years on a state-of-the-art regional arts campus that will provide opportunities for students, resident companies, community groups, as well as professional conservatory partners representing some of the finest arts institutions in the Chicago area” said Shannon Greene Robb.
Schoppe Design Associates, an Oswego-based land planning company, has been retained to create the master plan for the center. Arranmore Center for the Arts is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization.
